With so many games to choose from these days, comes the issue we all have – the prices. Games are not cheap at all, as even PC games have now hit the R1,000 mark.
Thankfully, we still have those awesome video game collections that cost almost half of a new release, and offer hundreds of hours of gaming.

- Trinelogy Play all. Trinelogy Episode 1 - The Three Heroes - Duration: 59 minutes. 1,980 views; 4 years ago; 30:17. Trinelogy Episode 2 - Facing our Fears?
A thriving community of fans devoted to everything Nintendo. A new version of the 'Trinelogy' has been rated by PEGI. This Nintendo Switch listing is likely for the collection of Frozenbyte's Trine games, which is available on Steam.
Some of these collections have a couple of games in them. The best thing about them is that chances are you probably loved them originally, so its a win-win.
Bioshock: The Collection – PS4, Xbox One, PC
The greatest FPS game in recent history has to be Bioshock. Its magnificent setting across the series and well-imagined worlds set the bar for fictional video games.
Bioshock released originally in 2007, and took players on an journey that had never been attempted before.
We explored Rapture, a city built under the sea. We then become a Big Daddy in Bioshock 2, and in 2013, we ventured into the clouds to Columbia.
Bioshock: The Collection has to be one of the greatest collections of video games released in 2016. Its all been polished up and the collection contains everything that ever graced the series.
DLC and Full HD aside, the games really stand on their own without all this in the first place.
Call of Duty Warchest – PC
Back before Call of Duty went to space, the games actually followed a real war.
Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2 were the stepping stones of the Call of Duty series. The games followed various soldiers during World War II, and took players right into the core of the combat.
We all remember playing that epic D-Day mission in Call of Duty 2, as we stepped on the beach and went tumbling to the ground as enemy fire almost blew us apart. It was a great experience, one which we will always cherish.
Luckily, the Call of Duty: Warchest offers the original Call of Duty, its expansion United Offensive, and Call of Duty 2. The collection is the best Call of Duty has to offer.
Borderlands: The Handsome Jack Collection – PS4, Xbox One
Borderlands has always been an epic and over-the-top experience, and the Handsome Jack Collection, is one of the better compilations around.
Although the collection leaves out the original Borderlands, Borderlands 2 is a much bigger and better adventure that has quite a chunk of content to enjoy.
We then have Borderlands: The Pre Sequel, that sees players head into space as the game covers the lead up to Borderlands 2 in a crazy, no-gravity sort of way.
The collection also packs all the DLC for the series to date, and if we know one thing, we know that Borderlands loved its DLC.
Rare Replay – Xbox One
Rare Replay manages to bring out the best of the classics onto Xbox One, as well as the newer titles from the studio. We all loved games like Perfect Dark Zero, but we also loved Viva Pinata and the Banjo Kazooie series.
Rare replay is a massive game collection that consists of 30 titles spanning across 20 years of gaming. For anyone who loved games like Battletoads, Blast Corps, and Viva Pinata, then this is the collection you need to get.
The collection also packs great behind-the-scenes content, that shows off early concept art for the games, as well as interviews and commentary on how the games came to be.
The Nathan Drake Collection – PS4
Nathan Drake is one of the most iconic gaming characters to ever live, well, in a game that is.
His adventure started all the way back in 2007, where he took us on a trip to find the lost city of El Dorado. Through the years, the Uncharted series has continued to raise the bar when it comes to action adventures.
The Nathan Drake Collection is the ultimate experience in the series, as it will take you through all of Nathan’s highs and lows as he searches for long lost treasure in dangerous territory.
Trilogy Machine
The collection is also the perfect way to catch up with the story before heading into Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, if you have not done so yet.
Half Life Complete Collection – PC
Let’s face it, we won’t see a Half Life 3 release any time soon. So why don’t we just give up on that dream?
What we can do however, is relive the Half Life experience thanks to the Half Life Complete bundle, that contains everything since the original game.
The collection will keep you up to speed with the happenings in the series, and although you might need to replay it in a couple of years when Half Life 3 is released, it is always a great collection to own.
Assassin’s Creed Triple Pack – PS4, Xbox One, PC
The sad thing is that we will not be getting a new Assassin’s Creed this year. The good new is, the series has so many awesome experiences in it already that you could just buy a collection and you will love it.
The Assassin’s Creed Triple Pack contains three of the best in the series – Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Unity, and Syndicate.
The games will take you from the Caribbean seas, all the way to the streets of London as you and your Assassin posse hit hard back at the Templars.
Trinelogy – PS4, Xbox One, PC
The Trine series started out as an indie game that has slowly grown into something much bigger. The series is a classic platforming adventure that will see you explore beautiful locations as a handful of heroes.
Puzzles, combat, and making use of each character’s unique ability, is the core of a Trine experience. If you have ever played one before, you would know that the game really sets the bar for visual fidelity as it is true eye candy. The series can be experienced from the original, all the way up to the last title in the Trinelogy pack.
